The 2008 Topps Indiana Jones Heritage trading card set is a 90‑card release covering the original Indiana Jones trilogy. It was issued on March 19, 2008, and uses a design intentionally modeled after the 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark Topps set.
This set is notable for being the first time Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ever received a trading card adaptation, since Topps did not produce a set for the film in 1989.
Topps released Indiana Jones Heritage during the promotional cycle for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). It was the first of three Indiana Jones sets released that year, all of which leaned heavily on sketch cards and premium inserts.
The base set is structured as follows:
27 cards for Raiders of the Lost Ark
27 cards for Temple of Doom
27 cards for Last Crusade
8 poster‑art cards
1 checklist card
The card fronts use the 1981 Raiders‑style layout, with color variations to distinguish each film.
5 cards per pack
24 packs per box
8 boxes per case
Topps also produced retail‑exclusive magnets styled after vintage stickers, which are now extremely scarce.
The autograph checklist includes nearly every major trilogy character except Sean Connery, with extremely low print runs for:
Harrison Ford
Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
Each reportedly had fewer than 10 copies.
Sketch cards varied widely in quality. Some artists produced detailed, full‑color pieces, while others submitted minimal “scribble” sketches. One infamous example is the “Waterhouse Monkey” sketch by Ryan Waterhouse, which appeared frequently—collectors report roughly one per case.
Although hobby boxes were advertised as containing one autograph or sketch, some boxes shipped without a hit. Topps replaced missing hits at the time, but replacements are no longer available.
