• Then there’s WARREN OATES as Captain Jack Braddock! What a legend! This was sadly one of his last roles, and he just brings this incredible gravitas and old-school cool. Every scene he’s in is GOLD!

• And how about CANDY CLARK as Frank’s awesome girlfriend, Kate! She’s smart, she’s resourceful, and she’s right there in the thick of it!

• DANIEL STERN plays Officer Richard Lymangood, Frank’s rookie observer! You know him from Home Alone and City Slickers, and he’s FANTASTIC here! He’s like the audience’s eyes and ears, totally blown away by Blue Thunder, just like we are!

• That helicopter? IT WAS REAL (mostly)! They took two French Aérospatiale SA 341G Gazelle helicopters and tricked them out with all sorts of Hollywood magic to create the Blue Thunder look! They built this INSANE cockpit and that menacing nose turret! It looked SO FUTURISTIC and SO POWERFUL!

• The flying sequences? OH. MY. GOSH. Director John Badham (the genius behind Saturday Night Fever and WarGames!) knew how to film action! The aerial stuff is some of the most incredible ever put on film, especially for the time! They’re weaving through skyscrapers, doing these insane maneuvers… it feels SO REAL and SO DANGEROUS! You’ll be on the edge of your seat, GUARANTEED!

• They actually flew that chopper over LA for a lot of the shots! Can you imagine seeing that thing buzzing around back in the day?! People must have thought aliens were landing!

• The "Whisper Mode"? That super-quiet running? SO COOL! And the thermal imaging, the super-zoom microphones, the 20mm electric cannon?! This helicopter was basically a superhero gadget! The tech they imagined was SO far ahead of its time, it still feels cutting-edge!

• And the final showdown between Blue Thunder and the F-16s? PURE CINEMATIC GOLD! It’s helicopters vs. jets in an urban environment! TALK ABOUT INTENSE!

They put SO MUCH effort into making this helicopter believable and just unbelievably cool, and they NAILED IT!
